The Ashover Light Railway Society needs your support if it is to achieve its goals. The Society is still growing and there is a long way to go before our dreams can be made a reality.
By becoming a member of the Society, you will automatically receive regular copies of our magazine “Where The Rainbow Ends”, as well as have the opportunity to voice your opinions on Society activities at our Annual General Meeting. Not only that, but now that we are in a position to begin the physical task of laying track and establishing our new home at Rowsley, you will have the chance to volunteer and lend us your muscles.
Of course there’s much more to rebuilding a railway than laying track, and a great deal of groundwork and planning still needs to be done before that can even be considered. Therefore if you would like to get involved with this behind the scenes work, or have any knowledge or skills that may be beneficial to us, please get in touch.
There are also Society events to promote, a Sales Stand to manage and publicity to distribute. Once again if you want to be involved, please get in touch.
Above all though it is your support we need, whether hands on or not, and we hope that you will see how worthwhile our plans are and join the Society.
Please remember, 2015 is the first time in well over half a century that Ashover Light Rail has actually had a track to run on, and you can now be a part of a major heritage renovation project !
The Society also has its own Tote. Anyone can join and this will give you the chance to win some money, whilst at the same time helping the Society raise much needed funds to progress its activities further. Anyone over the age of 16 can join the Tote, and it will cost £12 per year per entry (there is no limit on how many entries you can have). Any income generated by the Tote will be split 50% towards the Society and 50% towards prizes. There will initially be 4 draws a year, 3 prizes per draw, with 1st place receiving 50% of the prize fund, and 2nd and 3rd places getting 30% and 20% respectively.
